what does a milionaire want? ... more millions!

Busier the site the more server space they need. Take Guru for example. It ran perfectly well on the one server they had until the invasion of 2006. After 2006 everything went tits up. The more users guru gets, the more support they need froms ads to keep it going.

I think that their new "reduced" design - they scrapped the crappy wiki and website completely - makes people go away, too.
The new color schemes for the forum are awful, and it seems Rushster and Elly are running GWO low on resources.
With Gurus improved speed, that already happened quite a while ago, I see no reason why people would prefer to visit GW Incgamers anymore.
That we are in a dark time of waiting for GW2 and just talking trash most of the time is not worse or better here than on GWO, but at least Guru is still a fully working site, not a glorified downgraded forum.

The good thing about Guru is that in the going on 3 years i have visted it i have never had it suddenly attempt to download a trojan onto me. GWO has done that to me twice so i'm always wary of it.

Here's an update from Rushster;
Quote:
This has nothign to do with ads, it has to do with an infiltration on one of the other incgamers sites (not this one) which was fouind and removed right away. Unfortunately Google's crappy system lumps everything together so yes it's a load of crap basicly, this site is fine.
This site has never been hacked dirtectly, once, a long time ago, the ad server had an issue which affected all sites but that was nothing to do with the actual site itself.
|
I'll wait and see how it goes from here ~_~

I dont see why we need more than one site anyways, the same people post there and here and the threads are pretty much exact carbon copies of each other.

One should realize that the more traffic you have the more bandwidth you use. Therefore the more it will cost per month. I'm not sure the exact cost of sites like Guru and GWO but it is somewhere around 3-5 grand a month. has to be paid for somehow. And running a site like this or that also takes fulltime employees that have to eat, shelter themselves, and buy clothes and such. The ads stink for people who can't afford the membership dues but it is the only way to maintain the site. I for one am glad I can afford to be a member on both sites so that I can avoid all of the ads. I still allow the banner ad at the top. It doesn't bother me and hopefully they can make some extra money for it being there.
Whatever the reason GWo now has this warning it is gonna stink for them.

Firefox 3 won't even let me view GWO now. I get this instead

Guess it's good news it turned out to be a false positive kind of thing. The more sites, the better. I know some people prefer to go there and they really like it. It'd suck for them if it ended up closed or something.

It seemed that there were members who strongly disagreed, but supposedly it was justified.

Well, almost entirely off subject, i checked out that site with the graph of the daily reach of GWO.
So I put in guildwars.wikia.com Holy shit, somewhere around 2.9 billion reached per day. For April 6th.
